A Conversationalist

..not something I feel that I excel at.  Don't get me wrong I'm fairly comfortable talking to just about everyone I meet and can carry on a conversation ~ we'll just say I'm not exactly riveting at times.

Headed to Hampton to shoot the final Fireworks display of the summer.  A tad foggy when we arrived...

...but we traveled down to shoot fireworks and fireworks we shot.  Of course, as
soon as the display started the fog rolled in thicker and thicker still.  To the point where
me and my camera were getting very damp.
But still... a few managed to peak out below the rolls of fog and to be honest made
the colors speak in a way that I haven't photographed before.  So for this night my
camera was a much better conversationalist than I.

The Why is Important

The why
It defines someone and makes them unique ~ special

The how
how without the why is like a fish without water

The how ~ in this case was playing with a neutral density filter to get two images of me on the dock on a bright and sunny day.   A learning experience.

The why ~ best guess would be that I needed to see where I have been to know now where I must go

You Know It's Going to be a Good Day....

When you're greeted at the dock with a "G' day" greeting
.....and this is the view outside your window
Not quite sure what to expect
but you realize there will be some "hang" time
and possibly a little "down" time

But as soon as you make landfall the wind fills your sail

and you stretch out and have the most enjoyable day possible

Finding Style

I will often pick up items at consignment shops and such with a vague idea in my head of how I'm actually going to use them.

Meg was one of my very first portrait sessions.  She's a beautiful young lady with a great sense of style and bubbling personality.
I knew when we got together she would fit perfectly into some of the items I had chosen for our shoot.
But it isn't the clothes or a pretty face that makes the picture.  It's her sense of style and personality that she brings to the shoot that shines through and for me just makes it all click.
She'll be heading off to college close to NYC next week and will most certainly thrive there.  I look forward to hearing about her adventures in college and beyond.
This young woman is certainly going to shine!

An Island Visit

My "pickup" spot this morning was Glendale Docks for the quick trip out to Welch Island with Harold and Daryl.

Harold has been navigating out to Welch for the past sixty three years....and Daryl since she was a little girl.

Upon arrival I was greeted by an eagle with a keen eye for breakfast while watching over the point.

We navigated "Dexter Steeps" up to the garden ~ which Harold and Mary explained is much smaller than past years.  But to my eye was a full bounty!

Our leisurely boat ride around Welch island was filled with stories of folks who have come and gone over the years...  many a lifelong friend and family line her shores.

and to top it all off when we arrived back at the camp we all enjoyed the most delicious cucumber soup!

An absolutely fabulous morning ~ thank you, thank you!
