A Warm Winter's Day
….with a beautiful young woman
Olivia choose two outfits for our session
we started our morning with a more conservative approach to her portraits….
and then ventured into some stronger images
opening up with gesture and aperture
to make some beautiful photos...filled with personality
and showcasing her adventurous spirit
Wonderfully done, Olivia!

A Good Day at the Rock
Course inspection presents athletes with a "firm" base
…which they handled quite well
carving their turns down the course
…but as we all know everything can change in a fraction of a second!
Even though some athletes didn't make it to the finish line today….this young lad got up with a smile and a "thank you" … looking ahead to his next time in the starting gate.

Conversations are Great...
Another favorite takeaway from Mr. Heisler's talk was this so eloquently spoken around 17 minutes in
~
"conversation is great if you're a writer" "Did you shoot it? Dude, cough it up Jack…you're a photographer"
This is one of those pictures that has always "stuck" with me. It was taken years ago while kayaking on Lake Winnisquam. These granite slab steps led into the water along the shore. I loved how the "favorite" cars were all neatly placed on the right and the "less favorites" haphazardly on the left…. appearing discarded.
Part of what hit me above in Mr. Heisler's talk was the conversation steering around "bad light". There's always going to be "bad light" but I guess I'm one of those folks that still want to "cough it up" ….so I shoot it.
Even with all that said….
I will admit… I do love the conversation "and" I love the pictures...

Winter Whites
In the Northeast we've been on the receiving end of a few wintery snow storms…. Winter Whites came to mind.
So even though today is foggy and rainy…. I decided to have a little "winter white" session of my own.
Kind of like the mailman - through wind and rain…snow and sleet ~ I will always want to take to the outdoors with my camera!

Fashion with Flair
I recently had the opportunity to photograph Sue. Her sense of fashion and personality brought a wonderful flair to the session. My job as a photographer is to look for the best "light" to showcase her.
These images were all done in the same hallway and each one worked nicely to highlight and make Sue stand out ~ as she deservedly should!
No flash was used on this set of images - just a medium sized reflector to bring a bit more "spark" into her eyes. The rest of the "spark" she handled quite nicely ...with style! ….check out Sue's blog to see how you can add "flair" to your style.

2013 ….going out with a BANG
on New Year's Eve over at Proctor Academy's Blackwater Ski Area
A chilly evening on the slope with many young adults I've watched grow up over the years….
a fitting end to the year with a little "Fire in the Hole" fireworks display.
Happy New Year!
enjoy,
