A Painterly Feel

on a ledge overlooking the Pacific Ocean during our travels.

 It offers a painterly feel showing the beauty of the landscape being enjoyed by passers by~including myself.

One of my most favorite things about traveling is the people I meet ~ even briefly ~ along the road.  They add to the enjoyment of the surroundings.  Vickie was finishing up an oil on canvas showing the power of the waves as they hit the rocky shore where we were standing.  She was packing up and took a few photographs to bring back to her studio where she will continue her artistic process.

Part of that beautiful day to keep and hold; and share with others for years to come.

SQUAM SONG …. in print 2014

Last summer I was fortunate to do work for New England Boating Magazine for a feature they were writing on Squam Lake.

I had creative freedom to photograph the serenity of Squam and search for some of her hidden gems.

Some I had frequented in years past….

and then there were a few new found locales that I happened upon through my exploration and research.

It was a fantastic assignment ~ both to see my work in print and finding new places to explore.  Round two will begin when the ice melts and spring turns to summer.  Follow along on my quest for adventure…

I'm reposting this from two years ago…..

What you do today is important
             ... because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.

When you look at this photo there is nothing extraordinary about it.

What "is" extraordinary about this photo is the fact that it was taken on - March 8th, 2012 along the seacoast of New Hampshire. Walking along a NH beach in March is something I haven't done before.... with my shoes and socks off and toes in the water! Well worth the detour.

Think back to one week earlier we were in the middle of the biggest snowstorm of 2012!

…and now two years later in the "big freeze"
