Dawn the Light

Dawn - from an old English verb "to become day"  It's the time that marks the beginning

Civil twilight begins as there is enough "light"
for most things to be distinguishable
so that some outdoor activities,
but not all, can commence.

Wabi Sabi

...the beauty of incompleteness

I would say for all

live simply
truthfully
balanced
in tune with nature

not having some parts
not being finished

incomplete

Portraiture at Work

I was recently commissioned to create a body of work for the good folks of Rist Frost Shumway Engineering in Laconia.  Wanting to update their website they were seeking environmental style portraiture to showcase themselves and the engineering community with the work they produce.

I was excited to work with Chris, Ann Marie and their crew.  We selected a few session dates for their employees locally and around the Boston area to fill as their schedule allowed.  A professional group of folks with approachable personas even though having their portraits taken was not high in their comfort zone - "is it ever"
Each individual responding well with direction and confidence.

A respectful and enjoyable group to spend some time with and photograph.

We worked together and made the experience an enjoyable collaboration.

Early Winter ....being present

On the drive up to Wildcat the clouds were around.  We knew storms had been forecast to blow through.  Our hopes of a "bluebird" day weren't high.

Even still, the clouds with the sun poking through presented us with a
beautiful scene as we drove into the parking lot.
It was busy, early season, lots of natural snow,
other folks came out to enjoy the day.

Each ride up the lift we were treated to a different scene.
Some trips the clouds engulfed us...

other trips the sky opened up with a glory that only winter can provide!

Be present
Breathe it in...

Christmas Parade Message

With turkey leftovers still in many folks refrigerators the weekend brought us a wonderful helping of the spirit of Christmas with Laconia's annual Holiday parade.

If you ask me these children had the best seat in town!

And the Cereal Hero Express.....   well they expressed the best message!

The streets were filled with marchers caroling, bell ringing and giving....

The horns played
 and the smiles grew wide.....

Santa's elves even took a break from their workshop at the North Pole to march down Main Street
followed by the Grinch ...Who's heart is exactly in the right place and size!
Young and old shared the excitement and delight as Santa and Mrs. Claus rode their sleigh through downtown
...with a wave to the crowd and a brief stop to light up the Christmas tree in Veteran's Square before heading back to the North Pole.

As we begin this holiday season be thankful, be kind, be giving and let the sparkle of Christmas fill your heart.

Make Every Day a New Chapter

First snowstorms of the season ~ and we're off to a great start!
I love that feeling of
"being a kid and going out to play..."
For me it never gets old,
I've always been a "winter lover"
....and I'm sure I always will be.

Don't go through life backwards
make each day a new chapter

Breathe in the beauty surrounding you
...from all sides
especially "inside"

'cause at the end of the day
       there's no place like home

Up the Road Aways Over the Border

In celebration of our 34th wedding anniversary Jim and I headed north over the border into Canada.  Close to home combined with a lovely french flair and charming hospitality.

The warmth of the October sun,
a bright blue sky with a
brisk breeze on the lake

I'm thinking this laundry on the line sums up our "feeling" of the day.

Hanging out - feeling fresh!!

As we meandered our way back to the shanty we were greeted with the

warmth of the sun that followed us all day...

a cozy spot
...a day well traveled

that comfortable feeling of spending time together
to breathe and fly!
