Ghost ....without the boo

Once again I had the pleasure of photographing dress rehearsal at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse.
I'm always amazed and entertained by what they put together on stage.  Their upcoming Musical "Ghost" will surely be a hit with their patrons.

This night was more of a "tech" rehearsal and by that there are many "stops" along the way to make changes or adjustments as they approach opening night.  The attention to detail between cast and crew is outstanding and the resulting finished product ~ superb!

Bravo ~ well done!

Wrangling Made Easy

I had the pleasure of photographing the Harris family this past weekend.  One family branched into three families coming together for a portrait.

There are times when "wrangling" a family
can feel difficult.  With these folks it was "made easy" with a few laughs and fun along the way.

The memories that these photos conjure up for years to come won't be of the 60+ minutes we spent together but rather the lifetime they have spent with each other.

Fledgling

Awoke one morning to see our Robin's nest tipped out from it's perch.  After searching for a bit we couldn't find any of the birds around the yard.  Thinking they may have fledged and moved on I went to pick up the fallen nest.  Underneath I found one of the baby birds still alive and looking for food.

I gathered up the nest and placed it back into its spot within the joist beams, then Jim and I set to "worming" in our back yard.  Mama Bird makes it look much easier than it was.  I'm sure the heat and humidity was more of the culprit as we had to dig a little deeper to find some tender morsels for our fledgling.  All in all I think she ate about a dozen worms.  Many were smaller than what I had watched Mama Bird feed them over the past weeks.  But she wasn't complaining.

Hand feeding a baby Robin was a sweet experience.  She made it known that she wasn't quite "full" yet, but after a
while she settled into a comfortable slumber within her nest.

Returning that evening after sunset I checked on our sweet gal and found that she was sitting up and looking for something to eat.  So a bedtime snack was in order.  This time three worms did the trick and she was snoozing comfortably.

The next morning we awoke to see the nest empty.  Hoping that she found the strength to fly on her own I still took a few moments to search around the area.

Unfortunately our little bird had passed.  She now has a special place with Smokey up on the knoll.

Life can be hard at times - strength and kindness are always welcomed.

Mama Bird

We have been watching our "birds"
come and go for over 25 years.

We've watched Mama Bird
sit on her nest,

watched the baby birds
as they've hatched,

watched Mama and Papa bird
"worm" in our backyard,

watched the baby birds being fed,

watched the baby birds grow.

Each time we watch it makes us smile.

The circle of life - in this case
round three for the pair this summer.

When they fly we don't get sad.
They go - spread their wings - fly

knowing they will come
back home again.
